There are many very special and pure things about the great game of baseball, chief among those things is the way the love of the game is passed between fathers and sons.
Our Dawgs family has so many special dad/player, granddad/player, stepdad/player relationships and today we want to celebrate all of our dads, granddads and stepdads by wishing them a great and enjoyable Father’s Day and thanking them for all they do to support our Texas Dawgs organization.
Our gift to our dads/granddads and stepdads is that their sons and grandsons will be on the field this Father’s Day weekend advancing that special bond by playing the game.
Enjoy every minute of it and always remember to tell your player how much you love to watch them play. Go Dawgs!!!!
The plan was always to continue to grow our organization and try to field additional teams that share in our core beliefs and values. We are very pleased to announce this addition and hope to continue to grow our footprint in terms of teams and, hopefully, facilities.
Please join the coaches and me in welcoming Coach Tyler to the Dawgs Family.
Part of the mission of the Texas Dawgs is developing excellence on and off the field. None of that excellence is possible without a great example at home to model.
We know that we have the best moms and we are so thankful for all they do to raise the quality players that we have in our organization.
We are always aware, even if we don’t say thanks every day, of the countless trips back and forth to the field, all the dirty laundry, making sure all the gear is in the bags, packing the coolers for the baseball weekends and screaming cheers from the stands.
So on their special day, we want to say thanks and let them know how special they are. We appreciate all you do and we love you so much. Happy Mother’s Day to all of our moms, step moms and grand mothers.
When the Texas Dawgs were founded, we adopted a Mission Statement and Core values, which included a focus on the importance of giving back to the communities in which we play and understanding the value of service in building young men of character.
In adopting these standards and values, we require all of our players to perform community service in order to be a part of our organization. For our spring season, our first service project was gather equipment donations for The Recycled Baseball Items Foundation (RBI) and Recycled Sports Items (RSI), fellow non-profit organizations.
RBI and RSI are committed to keeping the Greater Houston Area's underprivileged youth off the streets, away from gangs, crime, and drugs, while offering them a positive and viable alternative in the form of participation in baseball/softball and other sports.
RBI accomplishes this by providing baseball, basketball, football and other sports equipment, instructional sports clinics and college scholarships to those who are exemplary in both academics and sports.
To support the cause of RBI and RSI, the Texas Dawgs engaged in a month long equipment drive requesting that players and families donate lightly used sports goods. On March 15th, RBI and RSI Foundation (RBI) picked up the items gathered by the Dawgs.
The Dawgs Organization donated over 150 items to RBI and RSI. The items donated included gloves, bats, helmets, catcher’s gear, cleats, pants, protective gear and training aids. We are hopeful these items will help further the outstanding mission of RBI and RSI.
We are so proud of our players and their families for their commitment to this project and their desire to support our community. Our players are truly “Embracing the Standard” of what it means to be a Texas Dawg!!! We are looking forward to our next community service project.

Rubble the Stud
Rubble the English Bulldog owned by "Head Honcho" came into the competition as a heavy favorite and his voters sure did not disappoint. That baseball playing, backwards hat-wearing fierce fella sure looks like a Texas Dawg, doesn't he?
Rubble smashed the competition, however Henry made a late surge to make it competitive. It seems as if people wanted a real mascot to resemble the Texas Dawgs logo, we can’t blame them!
Congratulations Rubble, you earned it! Now go out there and Play Like a Dawg Today! You are a dog, but you are now the Texas Dawg!

CONTESTANT 3 /// PET NAME: Bitsy Springer /// BREED: Nigerian Dwarf Pygmy Goat /// OWNER: Coach Jeremy /// DESCRIPTION: Bitsy does her own thing, she eats what she wants so she will compete in the contests she wants. Does your goat wear a Texas Dawgs hat? Yeah, didn't think so. I told Bitsy to reach out to the Hartford Yard Goats to see if they have a mascot opening. Bitsy told me "BawWWW bawww BAwwww", which translated means The Dawgs are my favorite team, The Dawgs or bust!
CONTESTANT 5 /// PET NAME: Rubble /// BREED: English Bulldog /// OWNER: Head Honcho /// DESCRIPTION: Hi friends! ???? I’m Rubble! I am the ultimate Texas Dawgs mascot (sorry to my competition), because I have been loyal to baseball(s) (well any ball or frisbee) since I was a young pup. I will hunt down that ball and take that ball to the house (aka home plate). My mom would probably tell you that in Rubble language that means hold on to that ball with my jaws of steel. But, hey, an out is an out right?! I’m currently learning how to swing a bat but due to my short legs - I’m not too bendy. I also love to wear clothes and would proudly wear my mascot jersey. Finally, I am the perfect candidate due to the way I embody (physically for sure) the Texas Dawg spirit. I have a mean bark - if I choose to display it - and I am also a ham to anyone who rubs my belly, tells me I’m good looking and brings me food. I’m sending you all big droopy kisses! I can’t wait to meet you all soon! (Preferably on the field - but due to my love of baseballs - mom seems to be weary to let me help out the team.) Thank you for voting for me!
CONTESTANT 6 /// PET NAME: Henry /// BREED: Old English Bulldog /// OWNER: Angie L. /// DESCRIPTION: Henry is the ultimate Texas Dawg Baseball Mascot!!! He is such a handsome boy that face is so lovable. He is sweet and loves to talk back to you... apparently he has an answer to all your questions.??
CONTESTANT 7 /// PET NAME: Rockne /// BREED: Goldendoodle /// OWNER: Rob K. /// DESCRIPTION: Hi I’m Rockne and even though I don’t look like it I am a golden doodle. I love sports and am named after the greatest college football coach of all time. I am a very loyal and supportive puppy and will know when to be a therapy dawg after a bad inning and when to be excited with high fives and chest bumps after a big rally. I can also help the Dawgs outfielders with my ball skills, I can track a fly ball and make the play as well as any gold glove center fielder. But most all long days at the ball park will make me happy and I love to root on my favorite teams.
CONTESTANT 12 /// PET NAME: Irish /// BREED: Goldendoodle /// OWNER: Rob K. /// DESCRIPTION: Irish has all the characteristics of a leader and the type A personality needed for a mascot. She is on one hand the sweetest dog to all she knows and loves but on the other has a fierce guard dog bark and growl when necessary. These are exactly the characteristics we need for our Dawgs. Gentlemen off the field, care about their teammates but the ability to turn it on and be warriors on the field and growl when necessary.
CONTESTANT 13 /// PET NAME: Hazel /// BREED: Pit Mix /// OWNER: Nichole S. /// DESCRIPTION: 1. She is beautiful. 2. She is sweet and full of energy, like I am sure all of your Dawgs are! 3. Pretty sure she loves baseball. Like super loves it. We rescued her in December (after baseball season), but she has the baseball vibe.
CONTESTANT 15 /// PET NAME: Cooper /// BREED: Dachshund /// OWNER: Hunter B. /// DESCRIPTION: Cooper is a stud and won't back down from any dog. That's the mentality for a Texas Dawg. Sure, he is oddly shaped but he resembles several things you'd find at a baseball game; hot dog, sausage and even a small baseball bat. Cooper is one valuable wiener dog.
CONTESTANT 16 /// PET NAME: Coach /// BREED: Shih Tzu /// OWNER: Mama Liz /// DESCRIPTION: Coach already has the name (although he was named after the purse company), but no one needs to know that detail. Coach is comin' atcha and he is fierce, he loves him some Dawgs baseball and has been a fan since day 1.
CONTESTANT 17 /// PET NAME: Bella Hops /// BREED: Nigerian Dwarf Pygmy Goat /// OWNER: Mama Liz /// DESCRIPTION: Bella Hops loves her some attention, so when she found out her sister Bitsy was in on the competition then she couldn't resist. Not many goats out there wear shirts, but Bella is not your typical goat as loves her some Texas Dawgs and isn't afraid to share it.
