 The Texas Dawgs are very excited to announce our very first “Hitting Analytics Day”, which is scheduled for this Saturday, January 8th at TD Sports Academy from 1 p.m.- 6 p.m..
We have recently been more fully exposed to the type of data that is available from player development tools like Rapsodo. This exposure has come from our work with Travis Bailey, the owner of Edge Baseball. Edge Baseball has recently joined the Dawgs as a “Preferred Team” for TD Sports and we hope to expand on the current relationship as we move forward. As we have started to work with Travis, he has brought a fresh look at development using data-driven tools, which give players an accurate look at their individual measurables and results. The information that can be gained from using tools like Rapsodo is amazing and includes data like spin rate, velocity, exit velocity, launch angle, ball path, ball spin and break as well being able to align these numbers with video. For this Saturday, we will use this type of technology to provide results for the boys on their individual measurables and to provide some instructional related points on what this data means (while also comparing their results to the standard results for similarly aged players). The cost for the event is $30 a player for players registered in advance and $40 for players that show up on Saturday. For this amount, the player will get their swing analyzed, receive their performance data and professional input on what the data tells us about their swing, including pointers for development. There will be an individual print-out for each player. Having these results will provide your player for a baseline heading into the season that we can measure again in the middle and at the end of season, which will show their growth and development. Coach Bailey will be running the Analytics Day with help from other Edge coaches and Dawgs coaches. We hope this will be a well-attended event and to accommodate that we will break the schedule by age. To that end, we would like to know as soon as possible if you would like your player to participate so we can plan the day. Please let us know by end of the day on Thursday you would like to pre-register for Saturday. Once we have a better headcount, we will provide a detailed schedule for Saturday. We hope that everyone will take part in this exciting event.
