During our preseason workouts and our in-season competition, the Dawgs organization is always looking to acknowledge our players for acting or playing in a way that embodies our mission and core values.
One of the ways that we award our players for “Embracing the Standard” and exemplifying our vision for the development of outstanding players and young men is through our “Dawg of the Week” belt award. This award is intended to be awarded each week the team has tournaments and a regular basis through off-season activities. The “Dawg of the Week” award is voted on by our coaches and our staff after consideration of the most recent tournament or off-season period. To win the award, the player must “Embrace the Standard” by exhibiting the traits and values that are core to the Dawgs organization, including leadership, accountability, excellence determination and a winning attitude. Jayden and Hunter B. played pivotal roles to help bring home a championship weekend at the Nations Baseball Mega Millions Million Point Tournament at Premier Baseball of Texas ![]()
The weekend of February 29th and March 1st the Dawgs 11U team played in and won the Nations Mega Millions Million Point event at Premier Baseball of Texas. The Dawgs went 5-0 on the weekend and defeated some very talented teams to capture their first championship ring of the spring season.
For the weekend, the Dawgs awarded Hunter B. and Jayden the “Dawgs of the Week” award. This was a unique occurrence to have 2 players receive the belt award, especially when the 12U also played this same weekend. Prior to making the organization making the awards, the 12U, as a team, requested that in recognition of the 11U tournament win that 12U belt award for the week be given back to the 11U. This decision does not diminish a successful weekend by the 12U. The team notched a 1-2 record playing good strong baseball in an all three games. However, this action by the 12U does exemplify what the organization is teaching about leadership and being good teammates. It is all about “Embracing the Standard”. Hunter B. with Ice in His Veins Propels the Dawgs into the Championship!
Hunter B. was one of the two 11U players to receive a belt for the “Dawg of the Week”. Hunter was key to the Dawgs tournament win and performed very well under pressure the entire weekend. As we all know baseball games have key moments and in the semifinal game, Hunter delivered in two key moments to almost will the Dawgs to a win.
On the weekend, Hunter recorded 2 saves on the mound working 2 2/3 innings giving up only 1 hit while striking out 8. At the plate, Hunter was 1-3 with 7 walks, 6 runs scored and 4 RBIs. However, for Hunter, he got the belt, in large part, because of his huge semifinal performance against Premier (Johnson). Hunter not only laced a two run single which wound up providing the winning margin but he also executed a 1-2-3 last inning striking out the side on 12 pitches to secure the 6-5 win and the trip the championship final. Through his performance, Hunter exhibited determination, excellence, a winning attitude and a passion for competition.

Hunter has a love for the game and is driven at all times to get better, so while he may not floor you with his size or power, none of that measures his heart and effort. Hunter, we know how talented you are, keep doing what you do and you will continue to be special.
Jayden Steps Up Big Time to Pace the Dawgs to a Victorious Weekend!
Jayden (J-money / J$) was the other player to receive the belt along with the tournament ring. Jayden excelled on both sides of the ball for the Dawgs, playing a stellar 2B and hammering the ball on the way to a 5-9 weekend scoring 5 runs and driving in 5.
Jayden picked up where he left off the prior week after a 3-3 Sunday. So, J$ has been a scorching 8-12 in his most recent at-bats. Jayden exhibited a great sense of determination and accountability with his performance in the tournament, bouncing back from a weekend where he did not play up to his high standards. J$ not only bounced back but he excelled as a key contributor and leader.

Jayden brings a ton of energy, enthusiasm and leadership to the team and, as one of the most well-liked kids, he is able to be a great teammate. Jayden, with all of your natural talent and great attitude, your baseball ability is only going to get better. J$ keep being who you are on and off the field!
